Terms of Use

Terms governing use of the LSN Foundation website

These Terms of Use apply to access to and use of the LSN Foundation website at lsn.foundation and the public information made available through it.

By accessing or using this website, you acknowledge these Terms of Use. Separate licensing terms may apply to particular documents, articles, publications, or other material made available through the site.

Scope

These Terms govern use of the LSN Foundation website and Foundation-controlled content made available through this website, except where separate terms or licences expressly apply.

The wider Lattice Semantic Nexus ecosystem includes distinct components and external public surfaces. These Terms do not automatically govern websites, services, tools, or infrastructure operated independently of lsn.foundation.

Informational Purpose

Public Information

The Foundation website provides public information concerning the LSN Foundation, Lattice Core, the canonical documentation framework, governance, publications, articles, and the wider Lattice Semantic Nexus ecosystem.

Website summaries and explanatory material are provided to assist public understanding and navigation.

Canonical Sources

Website summaries do not replace the canonical documents that hold their respective subject-matter roles and authority.

Where formal documentary authority matters, users should refer to the applicable canonical document and its Foundation document record.

Documentation framework →

Canonical Document Authority

Lattice Core is supported by a canonical documentation framework in which different documents perform distinct functions and hold different subject-matter responsibilities. These Terms of Use do not modify those functions or create governance, architectural, standards, specification, explanatory, or mapping authority.

LCGD

Governance.

Governs the governance framework, authority, change conditions, stewardship, lifecycle, and governance constraints.

LCAD

Architecture.

Establishes Lattice Core architecture and controls architecture-level questions.

LCStD

Standards & Conformance.

Formalises normative standards and conformance requirements derived from LCAD.

LCSpD

Detailed Specification.

Provides detailed technical and functional specification derived from LCAD and LCStD.

LCED

Explanation.

Explains and contextualises canonical material without controlling governance, architecture, standards, or specification.

LCAAD

Architecture Atlas & Corpus Map.

Maps locations, relationships, navigation, and traceability without substantive authority over the material mapped.

Architecture & Implementation

Architectural Description Is Not Operational Representation

Descriptions of Lattice Core, its layers, concepts, intended outcomes, or ecosystem relationships should not be interpreted solely by their publication on this website as representations of current implementation status, universal adoption, legal authority, or demonstrated operational behaviour.

Canonical documents control the subject matter assigned to them. Public summaries, articles, announcements, and other website material do not acquire canonical authority merely by appearing on the Foundation website.

Use of the Website

You may access and use the Foundation website for lawful purposes consistent with its role as a public informational and institutional resource.

You must not intentionally use the website in a manner that interferes with its operation, compromises its security, attempts unauthorised access to systems or data, or materially impairs access for other users.

Nothing in these Terms grants permission to bypass technical restrictions, obtain unauthorised access to infrastructure, or engage in unlawful activity involving Foundation-controlled systems.

Content & Licensing

Different Forms of Public Material

The website contains or provides access to different forms of material, including canonical documents, official Foundation publications and announcements, articles, explanatory website content, graphics, and other public resources.

These materials do not necessarily share the same documentary status, authority, ownership, or licensing conditions.

The fact that material is publicly accessible does not, by itself, establish permission for unrestricted copying, modification, redistribution, or commercial reuse.

Applicable Licence

Particular documents or other material may be made available under specific licensing terms. Where a specific licence is identified, use of that material is subject to the applicable licence.

Users should consult the Foundation's licensing information and any item-specific licensing notice before reusing material.

Licensing →

Names, Marks & Attribution

Permission to access or reuse particular material does not, by itself, imply permission to represent yourself or another organisation as the LSN Foundation, as acting on behalf of the Foundation, or as holding Foundation endorsement or authority.

References to the LSN Foundation, Lattice Core, or related ecosystem components should not be presented in a manner that falsely suggests sponsorship, endorsement, governance authority, certification, or institutional affiliation.

Any use of protected names, logos, marks, or other brand assets remains subject to applicable rights and any separate permissions or policies governing those assets.

External Websites & Services

The Foundation website contains links to external websites, ecosystem components, repositories, article and publication platforms, social channels, and other third-party resources.

External links are provided for reference and navigation. The presence of a link does not make the external service part of the Foundation website or cause these Terms to govern that service.

External destinations may operate under their own terms, privacy practices, licensing conditions, and security policies. Users should review those conditions when using an external service.

Accuracy & Availability

Website Information

The Foundation may update website content as its public materials, documentation framework, and ecosystem develop.

While reasonable care may be taken in maintaining the website, non-canonical website material may become incomplete, outdated, or contain errors.

Where a discrepancy concerns a matter controlled by a canonical document, the applicable canonical source should be used rather than an informal website summary.

Website Availability

Continuous or uninterrupted availability of the website is not guaranteed. Access may be interrupted by maintenance, infrastructure changes, technical failures, security events, or circumstances outside the Foundation's control.

Website pages, features, and public resources may be changed, relocated, or withdrawn as the Foundation's public infrastructure develops.

Reliance on Website Material

The Foundation website is provided as a public informational resource. Users remain responsible for evaluating whether information available through the website is appropriate for their particular purpose.

Nothing on the website should be treated as professional legal, financial, medical, or other regulated professional advice merely because it is made available through the Foundation website.

Technical or architectural descriptions should likewise not be treated as implementation or conformance requirements unless those requirements are established by the applicable canonical source.

No Guarantee of Website Content or Availability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Foundation does not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components, or that all non-canonical website information will remain complete or current at all times.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right, guarantee, liability, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified.

Responsibility for Use

To the extent permitted by applicable law, users are responsible for decisions and actions taken on the basis of their use of the website and for independently assessing material relevant to their circumstances.

The Foundation does not assume responsibility for the operation, content, availability, security, or data practices of external websites or services merely because they are linked from this website.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

Privacy

Use of the Foundation website may involve the processing of technical information required to deliver and protect the site. Information may also be received when a user voluntarily contacts the Foundation.

The Foundation's current privacy practices are described separately in the Privacy Policy.
